NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The UMass Lowell men's basketball team will make the short trek to Merrimack on Saturday, as the two squads are set to meet for just the second time at the Division I level.

A WIN WOULD
A win against the Warriors would mark the River Hawks' first at the Division I level against the local opponent. It would also improve the team's record to 2-0 this year against Northeast Conference schools.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Everette Hammond is averaging 10.8 points per game to pace the squad. Max Brooks, who adds 10.1 points, boasts a team-best 5.0 rebounds per game and 12 blocks. Justin Faison adds 24 assists and 18 steals.

LAST TIME OUT
UMass Lowell battled back to within four inside of the final minute and a half, but free throws proved to be the difference in a 73-63 decision for Brown on Dec. 1. Anthony Blunt forced a steal that allowed Ayinde Hikim to finish an and-1 that put the River Hawks within 65-61 at 1:18, but eight Brown free throws helped the visitors hold on to secure the outcome. Hikim paced three double-digit scorers for the River Hawks with 17 points. John Hall registered a season-high 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Everette Hammond added 12 points, while Justin Faison totaled three steals.

NUMBER 100
With the decision against Fisher, Coach Duquette earned his centennial win, marking the first 100 wins for the River Hawks at the Division I level. He became the fifth coach in program history to reach 100 victories, dating back to 1902.

DOUBLE THE FUN
Not only did Greg Hammond and Quinton Mincey each log their first career double-double against Fisher, but their performances also marked the first time two River Hawks have achieved double-doubles since a game against Boston University on Dec. 21, 2019.

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
The 101 points against Fisher marked the most points in a game for the team since scoring 110 against Maine Fort Kent in 2018. That 101-38 decision also goes down as the greatest margin of victory in program history, besting a 45-point win against Mount Ida in 2014.

SHARING IS CARING
The River Hawks are showing off their depth this season, as four of the team's eight games so far have featured 10 point scorers.

HERE'S THE DOWN LOW
The River Hawks worked hard to drive to the hoop against CCSU with their first 22 points coming from the paint. Including 60 points down low against Fisher, the team is now averaging 38.3 points per game from the paint.

DEFENSE WINS GAMES
This year, Coach Duquette has made defense a huge point of emphasis for his program, which typically leads the America East in several offensive categories. So far, the River Hawks have only allowed more than 56 points three times this season and are second in the league in scoring defense. The team held Fisher to an all-time program-low 38 points on Nov. 27.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
So far this year, UMass Lowell owns a 4-0 record when leading at halftime.

ROAD WARRIORS
The River Hawks' non-conference slate features eight games away from friendly confines, including a five-game road swing in November. The program has now accumulated a 116-162 road record since 2003-04.
