WASHINGTON, D.C. -
The UMass Lowell men's basketball team, who is in the midst of a five-game road swing, is set for a third game in four days at George Washington on Friday.

A WIN WOULD
A win against the Colonials would earn the River Hawks their second victory against an Atlantic 10 opponent this season and their third overall.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Justin Faison has averaged a team-best 12.3 points per game through the first four outings in 2021-22. Everette Hammond, who adds 10.8 points per game, boasts nine steals, while Max Brooks paces the team defensively with 6.0 rebounds per game and seven blocks.

LAST TIME OUT
Max Brooks posted his first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, as UMass Lowell downed Central Connecticut State, 77-53, in the final game of the 2021 Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase on Nov. 17. Kalil Thomas, who was a perfect 4-for-4 from long range, also put up 18 points on the night to match his own personal best. Justin Faison added in a double-digit scoring performance with 10 points, in addition to a game-high five assists.

OFF AND RUNNING
With the win against CCSU, the River Hawks are off to their best start at the Division I level, 3-1. All three of those victories have come against opponents from different athletic conferences, including Dayton of the Atlantic 10.

SHARING IS CARING
The River Hawks are showing off their depth this season, as three of the team's four games so far have featured 10 point scorers.

HERE'S THE DOWN LOW
The River Hawks worked hard to drive to the hoop against CCSU with their first 22 points coming from the paint. This season, the team is averaging 34 points per game from the paint.

DEFENSE WINS GAMES
This year, Coach Duquette has made defense a huge point of emphasis for his program, which typically leads the America East in several offensive categories. So far, the River Hawks are second in the league in scoring defense. The team held CCSU to a season-low 53 points on Nov. 17.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
So far this year, UMass Lowell owns a 3-0 record when leading at halftime.

CAREER DAY
Max Brooks finished with new career highs for points (18), rebounds (11), field goals (9) and steals (3) to lead the River Hawks to the victory against CCSU.

STEALING THE SHOW
In the opener against Rivier, the River Hawks earned 10 takeaways for the first time since Nov. 26, 2019 against Brown. Since then, the team is averaging a DI program-best 9.0 steals per game.
