AMESBURY, Mass.—After an impressive collegiate debut against Arizona State, UMass Lowell men's hockey freshman
Matt Crasa (South Setauket, N.Y.) was named the Hockey East Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
The freshman had a stacked weekend of firsts, registering his first career goal, assist, power play goal, multi-point outing and game-winning goal. He finished the weekend with four points off three goals and an assist to led the team.
Crasa registered his first collegiate goal just 58 seconds into the River Hawks season opener at Arizona State off a loose puck in front of the net. The rookie forward continued his outstanding opening weekend run with a three-point performance (2G, 1A) in UMass Lowell's 4-2 win over the Sun Devils on Sunday night.
The weekly award marks the first of Crasa's career and the first of the season for the River Hawks.
