LOWELL, Mass. - The UMass Lowell men's basketball team will wrap up a season-long, four-game homestand with a weekend America East series against Hartford. Â
A WIN WOULD
A win against Hartford would give the River Hawks their first victory at home in the series since January of 2017. Â
LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks split a pair of games against NJIT on Jan. 2-3. Despite pulling within five in the final two minutes of the first game, UMass Lowell succumbed to NJIT, 73-67, on Jan. 2. However, the squad bounced back the next night, as
Salif Boudie and
Gregory Hammond posted 18 points apiece to lead four double-digit scorers for UMass Lowell in a hard-fought, 74-60 victory against NJIT on Jan. 3.
LEADING THE FLOCK
Obadiah Noel, the squad's lone senior, is pacing the River Hawks and America East with 21.2 points and 3.7 assists per game.
Connor Withers is controlling the boards with 4.9 rebounds per game.
Darion Jordan-Thomas and
Allin Blunt chip in with an average of 6.2 and 6.1 points, respectively, while newcomer
Max Brooks boasts a team-best 11 blocks, as well.
CHARITABLE EFFORTS
So far this year, no player in the America East has been sent to the foul line (92) or made more free throws (66) than
Obadiah Noel. The guard set a new personal best, going 15-for-16 from the charity stripe at Stony Brook on Dec. 28. With that performance, he logged the most free throws in a single game for the program since
Logan Primerano made 16 in 2015-2016.
CONTROLLING THE BOARDS
With 48 rebounds against NJIT on Jan. 3, the River Hawks grabbed the most boards for the program in a single game since 2018 vs. UMass Boston (56).
SHARING IS CARING
For the first time since Feb. 20 of last season, the River Hawks had four scorers in double figures in a win against NJIT on Jan. 3, led by 18 points apiece from
Salif Boudie and
Gregory Hammond.
DOUBLING UP
On Dec. 28 at Stony Brook,
Darion Jordan-Thomas matched a season high with 12 points and added a career-high 13 rebounds for his first double-double.
Salif Boudie then logged his first double-double as a River Hawk with 18 points and 14 rebounds against NJIT on Jan. 3.
100 CLUB
Obadiah Noel played in his 100th career game at Stony Brook on Dec. 27. Now at 103 games played, he ranks sixth in the program's Division I history and is just six games away from surpassing
Jahad Thomas (109) for fifth place.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
With its seventh consecutive win in a home opener in 2020-21 and a 2-2 record in friendly confines so far this season, the team is now 140-87 in front of River Hawk Nation since 2003-04.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
The River Hawks have been quick to attack this season, scoring first in all seven of their 10 games so far, with the initial bucket coming from
Connor Withers in three of those contests.
FROM THE JUMP
After winning the opening tip just 11 times last season, the River Hawks have secured the tap seven times in 10 games so far.
