A Note from Peter Casey: An Update on River Hawks Hockey Season Tickets

5/27/2020 9:32:00 AM

UMass Lowell Director of Athletics Peter Casey sent the following message to River Hawk Hockey Season Ticket members May 21 ahead of renewals for the upcoming season.

Good evening,

Much like you, we have had an eventful period of adjustments over the past two months. We watched our seasons come to an abrupt end, our classes move to a virtual world in a matter of days and River Hawks disperse across the globe. It has been an unprecedented period of change, but as we watched our academic year come to a close this past week, we are so proud of the program we have built and the student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans who make it go.

Our first focus continues to be on the health and well-being of our student athletes at every point, working towards their continued success and development. A shining example of this comes from senior hockey student-athlete Tyler Wall, who after finishing his final requirements for his mechanical engineering degree, signed his first professional contract with the New York Rangers. Congratulations to Tyler.

As an administration, we are planning for all scenarios, but working with the goal of the River Hawks playing hockey in the fall and focusing on taking the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of all involved.

That brings us to the key to the River Hawks success: you. River Hawk Nation. The ingredient that makes playing for the River Hawks so special.

We recognize these are challenging times for all. That's why over the last two months we have shifted our focus to connect with you. Be it our coaches, our alumni, our staff (and we do have more in the pipeline), we want you to know we are truly all in this together and we are here for you. Those conversations and connections have reminded us how special River Hawk Nation is. Just today we launched a virtual sell-out campaign for the Tsongas Center, and have achieved over 80% of our goal in less than 12 hours. Your support never ceases to amaze.

You, as a season ticket member, are our most loyal supporters and the key cog that makes the Tsongas crowd run. You bring the energy and support every night. We want you to know we are here to make all possible accommodations to assist you with payment flexibility in these times. We have stretched payment plans that include:
  • Bi-weekly from now until September
  • A Six-Month plan from May to November
  • A Four-month plan from May to August plan
  • The option to commit to renewal with no money down (this just helps us plan ahead in accounting)

These options will appear in your online account when renewing your membership.

While we do still face a July 10 deadline to order your season ticket books, if you would prefer to stretch your decision making process, the membership perks will carry over to your mobile ticket options and renewals on your accounts will be available as long as our membership capacity allows.  To learn more or discuss how we can assist you, feel free to connect with Christine, who has you in good hands. We recognize the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic and please know we will be prepared to adjust should things change.

We want to leave you with a simple message – THANK YOU. Thank you for your continued support that was something our 2013 Championship team recalled fondly in their virtual reunion. Your support makes a difference in more ways than one and your patience and flexibility in the midst of these challenging times is something we are grateful for. Most of all, thank you for being United in Blue. We are in this together.

Should you have further questions – please reach out to me (Peter_Casey@uml.edu) to connect further.

Go River Hawks!
Peter Casey
