CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The UMass Lowell softball team (4-6) will begin its 10-day spring break trip in Tennessee at the 2020 Governors Classic, hosted by Austin Peay on March 6-9.

The River Hawks will play five games at the three-day event beginning with matchups against IPFW and Austin Peay on Friday. The team will then square off against the same two squads on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend against Bradley on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks participated in the FGCU Spring Break Invitational from February 21-23, finishing the weekend with a 2-3 record. The team started and ended the tournament with wins, earning the program's first ever victory against a Big Ten opponent with a 2-1 decision against Michigan State before defeating Southern Illinois, 2-1 in nine innings to close the weekend.

The River Hawks have already battled through four extra innings games in 2020 with a 2-2 record. The team is now 18-12 in extras at the Division I level.

PLAYING THE LONG GAME
The River Hawks, who logged at least one home run in each of their first five games this year, lead the America East with eight long balls in 2020.
Courtney Cashman already has three dingers this season for a career total of 26, which puts her just nine away from tying the program's all-time record (35).

Lovina Capria is off to the best start for a pitcher during the program's Division I era with a perfect, 4-0 record so far in 2020.

Senior
Marianne Sparacia (Spring Hill, Fla.) is tied for first in the nation right now as the toughest player to strikeout, as she is just one of 17 players across the country who still have not gone down by way of the K in 2020.

Courtney Cashman surpassed
Ariana Darcy '15 to take over the top spot on the program's all-time record list for career walks. Cashman totals five free passes this season for 83 in her career.

MILESTONE MOMENT
With the win against Houston on Feb. 8, Head Coach
Danielle Henderson secured her 100th career win. In doing so, she becomes the fourth coach in program history to reach that milestone.

As a team, UMass Lowell is ranked 58th in the nation for double plays per game (0.40), as well as 79th for home runs per game (0.80). Individually,
Chelsea Runyon is 64th for ERA (1.40) and
