3/30/2020 10:08:00 AM

HIGHLIGHTS

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 30, 2013)
- Freshman goaltender and the unanimous choice as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Connor Hellebuyck, stops all 28 shots as third-ranked and top-seeded UMass Lowell blanks 10th-ranked and second-seeded New Hampshire 2-0 to win the NCAA Tournament Northeast Regional in Manchester, N.H., and advances to the Frozen Four for the first time in its Division I history.

Sophomore forward Scott Wilson scored the only goal the River Hawks needed banging home the rebound of a Chad Ruhwedel slap shot with 30-seconds remaining in the second period.  Freshman Adam Chapie added the insurance marker midway through the third period with a nifty backhand shot on a one-on-three rush after taking a pass from Wilson.

UMass Lowell had earned a spot in the Regional Final with a stunning 6-1 victory over Wisconsin the day before.  Six different players scored goals in that one and Hellebuyck made 31 saves.

Hellebuyck stopped 59 of 60 shots he faced in the Regional. Scott Wilson, junior defenseman Chad Ruhwedel, and forward Adam Chapie also make the All-Regional Team.
