LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team fell to Boston University, 13-5 in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon at Cushing Field Complex.
The River Hawks drop to 1-1 with the loss, while the Terriers improve to 1-2 overall after the win.
"It was a tough game, I didn't think we started out real well at all in any aspect," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Ed Stephenson. "We just got out to a late start, we hurt ourselves with penalties today."
Domenic Giachello (Somers, Conn.) and
Conor Foley (Walpole, Mass.) scored their second goals in the second half, respectively, in addition to a tally by senior
Isaac Bot (Calgary, Alta.). Giachello led the team with eight shots and six shots on goal.
Sophomore goalie
Hunter Braun (Hartland, Mich.) amassed 16 saves in the losing effort, while BU's Joe McSorley recorded 17 stops in his first win of the season. Senior attackman Dan Cozzi (Reading, Mass.) registered a team-best three assists for the River Hawks.Â
The Terriers scored the first seven goals of the game and owned a 9-2 lead at halftime. Giachello and Foley scored for the River Hawks in the first half of play.
Vince D'Alto tallied a game-high five points in the Terriers' victory.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Tuesday, February 18th at Holy Cross. Game time from Kuzniewski Field in Worcester is 4 p.m.
