LOWELL, Mass. - UMass Lowell temporarily paused all women's basketball activities on Friday after learning that a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19 during routine surveillance testing. All other team members have subsequently received negative test results.
The university immediately initiated its isolation and quarantine protocols and will continue surveillance testing team members. The university is still determining the impact on the timeline of the coming season and will announce additional information as it becomes available.
"Keeping our student-athletes, coaches and staff safe remains our primary concern," said UMass Lowell Director of Athletics
Peter Casey. "We will be steadfast in continuing to follow all of the protocols that we worked with the NCAA, the America East and the university to establish, so that we can ensure a safe return to play."
