LOWELL, Mass. – The America East Conference officially released the full slate of women's basketball league games for the 2020-21 season on Monday afternoon, featuring 18 contests for the River Hawks.
"Our team has been working very hard in anticipation of this season," said River Hawk Head Coach
Tom Garrick. "The harshness and uncertainty of the pandemic has made us all very thankful for the opportunities we've been afforded. I'm excited to see our team take advantage of all the work done by so many to make the season possible."
The River Hawks are set to play eight games on their home court, while hitting the road for 10 more.
For the first time since the 2017-18 season, UMass Lowell will start its conference campaign on the road, taking on Vermont in a pair of games set for Saturday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 20. The River Hawks will then play host to Stony Brook in their home opener the following week on Sunday, Dec. 27 and Monday, Dec. 28.
Following the holidays, UMass Lowell will go on the road for two consecutive weekends, matching up with conference newcomer NJIT on Jan. 2 and 3 before a trip to Connecticut to take on Hartford, Jan. 9 and 10.
The River Hawks continue on, taking a short break from travel to entertain Binghamton on Jan. 16 and 17. The squad will then head down to Baltimore, Md. to matchup against UMBC on Jan. 23 and 24.
Heading into the final stretch, UMass Lowell will take on UAlbany for two games at home on Jan. 30 and 31 before heading into a bye week.
The River Hawks return to action, traveling to Maine for matchups on Feb. 13 and 14 before wrapping up their schedule with a pair of home games against New Hampshire on Feb. 27 and 28.
With a date and location to be determined, the America East Championship is set to take place during the month of March.
According to the America East Return to Play policies, there will be no fans/spectators permitted at America East basketball competitions through January 1, 2021. This prohibition will be revisited as the season begins to evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety protocols to ensure they are working effectively. However, all games will be streamed on ESPN platforms for fans to follow along.
