LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell Baseball team hosted its eighth annual Hot Stove Dinner on Saturday, January 25th at Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut, Mass.
The proceeds from the event benefited the River Hawk baseball program and the 2020 Shedd Park team.
"The Hot Stove was a tremendous success for the eighth straight year," said UMass Lowell Baseball Head Coach Ken Harring. "It is a great night in the community with us honoring last year's UMass Lowell Baseball award winners along with the 2019 Shedd Park Cooperstown team. It is a key function for our program and is now a staple in the Lowell community to help raise funds for two great organizations."
The River Hawks also handed out five team awards for the 2019 season. Oscar Marchena (Miami, Fla.) was named the Jim Stone Player of the Year, while Nick Rand (Hyde Park, N.Y.) was named the Jack Leathersich Pitcher of the Year. Relief pitcher Josh Becker (Burlington, Mass.) was the Jon Cahill Rookie of the Year and Kendall Pomeroy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was named the Bob Bushong Unsung Hero. Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) was the recipient of the Adam Keenan Sportsmanship Award.Â
The event, which was sold out, included live and silent auctions.
