River Hawks Welcome Maine for 6th Annual Health & Fitness Field Trip Day

LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (8-9, 4-0 AE) hosts Maine (7-11, 3-1 AE) in the program's Sixth Annual Health & Fitness Field Trip Day set for Wednesday morning at 11 a.m.
 
River Hawks on NESN
This contest marks the second time in program history that the River Hawks will see action on NESN, while on their home court. Their first broadcast was during last season's Field Trip Day against Binghamton (1.23).
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
After their win against Binghamton, the River Hawks continue conference play with on a 4-0 hot-streak for the first time in Division I history, improving to 8-9 overall. Senior Ren'Cia Rolling and sophomore Denise Solis are the lone River Hawks in double figures. Rolling is averaging 12.4 ppg while snagging a conference-high 2.3 steals per game. Solis is scoring at 10.4 ppg and is the only River Hawks to play on and start every game. As a unit, UMass Lowell is shooting 35 percent from the field, and 64 percent from the line. 
 
SCOUTING MAINE
The Black Bears come to Lowell riding a two-game win streak to improve to 7-11 overall and 3-1 in the America East. Their one conference loss comes from their matchup at Stony Brook, falling to the Seawolves, 73-69. Junior guard Dor Saar paces the squad with 11.2 points on the season, including 681:25 minutes on the season to rank her 1st in the nation. In their most recent win against UAlbany, 60-49, junior forward Maeve Carroll posted her third-consecutive double-double, averaging 7.3 rebounds to rank fifth in the conference. As a unit Maine is shooting 39 percent from the field and 73 percent from the line.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. MAINE
Entering Wednesday's contest, the River Hawks will be seeking their first win against the Black Bears in program history. Maine owns a commanding 12-0 advantage in the all-time series. Their most recent loss came on senior night of last season where the River Hawks fell 60-41, with Ren'Cia Rolling logging five assists and two rebounds in the loss.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Ren'Cia Rolling logged a career-high 20 points, including four shots from outside the arc, to help propel the squad to a 66-56 victory against Binghamton. With the win, the River Hawks start conference play 4-0 and continue their win streak to five games.  Kharis Idom chipped in 15 points, recording a career-high seven made free throws. After the Bearcats erased a 16-point deficit to tie the game, 52-52, with just under five minutes left on the clock, the River Hawks propelled themselves on a 7-0 run, sealing the win with Idom's last free throws of the day.
 
FIELD TRIP DAY
In the five previous Field Trip Day games, the River Hawks are averaging 3,284 in total attendance, inducing a basketball facility record of 4,192.
 
NCAA TOP-100
Ren'Cia Rolling is ranked 47th overall in the NCAA for steals with 2.3 on the season, helping the squad earn the 71st spot overall. She also leads the team in minutes played, totaling 624 minutes to rank at No. 4. Solis is the only other River Hawk to rank in a statistical category, ranking 56th overall in the NCAA for free throw attempts, making 52 out of 83 attempts for 62%.
 
#STREAKS
For the first time since the 2012-13 season the River Hawks picked up five consecutive wins to give them their best start to conference action since joining the ranks of DI. UMass Lowell's last win streak came in 2014-15 where the River Hawks capped off their season with wins against UNH (70-65), Vermont (72-64) and NJIT (60-51).
 
MAKING HISTORY
With their wins over Binghamton, Hartford, UMBC and UNH, the River Hawks start conference play with a 4-0 record for the first time in Division I history. UMass Lowell last saw opening conference wins against Palm Beach Atlantic (84-76 2OT), Southern New Hampshire (96-82) and Southern Connecticut (77-74) back in the 2012-13 season where the River Hawks ran out on a nine-game win streak.
 
MILESTONE WATCH (500 POINTS)
Posting a personal-best 20 points in the latest win over Binghamton, Ren'Cia Rolling grabs a career total of 436 points. Through the 17 games, Rolling has drained at least one shot from outside the arc, totaling 210 points on the season.
 
BOARDED UP
In the midst of their five-game win-streak, the River Hawks have outrebounded their opponents by 8.6 percent, posting 75 offensive and 149 defensive, compared to the oppositions 193 rebounds. UMass Lowell's most impressive performance was against Binghamton, recording 48 rebounds in the contest.
 
DOUBLE TROUBLE
In both victories over UMBC and FDU, three different River Hawks tallied first-career double-doubles. Tiahna Sears (17 pts, 10 rebs) and Kharis Idom (15 pts, 11 rebs) each posted multi-point efforts in the 75-64 win against UMBC, while Denise Solis grabbed 21 points and 14 rebounds in the overtime victory against FDU, including the game-tying free throws. Solis is the first rookie River Hawk to notch a double-double, since the 2008-09 season where Bianca Simmons posted 28 points and 12 rebounds in the 73-64 win over Le Moyne.
 
ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL
In the victory against UMBC every River Hawk who hit the court totaled at least two points, repeating last season's matchup against the Retrievers where UMass Lowell came out on top, 62-41. This marks the fifth time in Division I history, recording a 3-2 record between the meetings.
 
SHE'S ON A ROLL
After setting her career-high six steals in the contest against LIU, Ren'Cia Rolling sits in first amongst America East players with 2.3 steals per game, helping the squad earn the top spot, with 8.94.
 
A DIME A DOZEN
The River Hawks secured a season-high with 16 assists on 29 made field goals in the battle against UMBC (1.5). With her five assists in the contest, Sanchez is averaging a team-best 2.8 dimes per game this season.
 
FREE BASKETBALL
The River Hawks secured their second overtime victory in the Division I era after battling Fairleigh Dickinson, 61-56. UMass Lowell played their first two Division I overtime games during the 2015-16 season, dropping both. Before that, the River Hawks played in a 96-94 victory at Pace University on January 19, 2013. Earlier in that season the River Hawks also played in a double overtime contest, defeating Palm Beach Atlantic, 84-76, on Jan. 2. 
 
EIGHT IN A ROW
During the first eight games, Ren'Cia Rolling scored 10 or more points for the River Hawks, which includes matching her career-high 19 points in the 56-54 win against Central Connecticut (12.5). She is currently on another scoring run with four games scoring 10+ points for a career total of 24 contests.
 
CONNECT FOUR
In four contests this season, four different River Hawks have found themselves in double-digit point territory. Jaliena Sanchez, Ren'Cia Rolling and Denise Solis have each recorded 10 or more points in the matchups with UMass (11.14), Yale (11.21), Cornell (11.27) and FDU (12.29). Shamyjha Price saw multi-point efforts in both the UMass and Cornell games, while Chasidey Willis notched 10 points against Yale, and Kharis Idom with 10 as well, against FDU.
 
PROTECT THE HOUSE
Solis currently leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game for the River Hawks, which ranks 11th among America East players. Her 2.8 offensive rebounds per game is fourth in the conference, helping the squad earn the third spot overall with 13.6 offensive rebounds per game.
