LOWELL, Mass. – The River Hawks will finish out their four-game road streak with a matchup against Harvard at Jordan Field on Wednesday, followed by their second round of home action when they take on UConn in a 7 p.m. Saturday night tilt.

LET'S REWIND…
After an uphill battle, the River Hawks notched their first win of the season over Quinnipiac in a double overtime 2-1 finish. The Bobcats were first to strike in the second half, but after a sliding tackle from their keeper, UMass Lowell was awarded a penalty kick. Sophomore Emily Nelson (Peabody, Mass.) stepped up and sent the ball flying into the bottom left corner of the net, equalizing the score 1-1.

With neither team being able to score the game winner, the River Hawks rolled into another scoreless 10 minutes of play. In the 97th minute the game came to a finish when the Bobcats were called for a handball inside the box, awarding the River Hawks their second penalty kick of the night. Redshirt junior Courtney Coleman (Antioch, Ill.) ripped the ball into the bottom right corner of the net, bringing the final score to 2-1.

SCOUTING HARVARD
The Crimson are coming off a 3-1 road win against UConn this past Sunday bringing their overall record to 4-2-0. 12 different players have found the back of the net for Harvard including freshmen Angela Caloia who leads the squad with 10 points, as well as Gabby DelPico notching two goals.

The River Hawks matched up with the Crimson in 2013 in a home field battle, but unfortunately fell to Harvard in a 5-0 shutout.

SCOUTING UCONN
After their first home game loss of the season the Huskies fall to 3-3-1 overall. Kess Elmore leads the squad in points with three goals and three assists, while Randi Palacios has played all 650 minutes recording a .787 save percentage.

This will be the first time the River Hawks and the Huskies will face off against each other.

BUILDING ON A HISTORIC SEASON
The team secured their first-ever bid to the America East Tournament, making their way as far as the championship game. After a stand-out 2018 season by the 11-member freshman class, tallying 17 goals and 44 points, it's no wonder three of them garnered America-East All-Rookie team nominations. Nelson, Dunja Mostarac (Belgrade, Serbia) and Bartsch, continue to strive in the 2019 season, with Bartsch tallying eight shots and Mostarac recording three over the six games. With a goal against the Minutewomen and Bobcats, Nelson continues her scoring streak from last year increasing her career total to nine goals and two assists for a total of 20 points.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Following their tilt with the Huskies, the River Hawks will see their first bit of conference action when they take on the Hartford Hawks on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m., for a Youth Day celebration.

25 YEARS STRONG
This season we would like your help in celebrating 25 years of River Hawk Women's soccer. Our goal is to have 125 donors, which marks the 125th year anniversary of the University, donate $25 dollars to celebrate our 25th season of women's soccer. In the past, funds have been used for locker room renovations, enhancing our high-performance environment, and securing a more challenging out of conference schedule. We are at this point in history because of the previous 24 teams that have paved the way for us, and as we continue to build our program, we need your help!
