River Hawks On Road Against Merrimack and Massachusetts

LOWELL, Mass. – After a quick two-game home stand, the UMass Lowell men's soccer team plays its next two on the road, hopping on the bus for quick trips to Merrimack and Massachusetts this week.

The River Hawks split last week, going 1-1, picking up a 2-1 double overtime win against Boston University after falling by the same score to Northeastern. Dario Jovanovski (Zagreb, Croatia) picked up a goal and assist on Roko Prsa's (Sisak, Croatia) game-winner in the 110th minute, while German Fuentes (Joroco, El Salvador) recorded his first career goal against the Huskies. 

RIVER HAWK LEADERS
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) paces the lineup with his two goals, two assists and six points, while Jovanovski Prsa each have four points. Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) and Denis Petro (Michalovce, Slovakia) have two assists, as well. Between the pipes, Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) has 10 saves and an 1.88 GAA.

RIVALRY WEEK
This week marks the rebirth of a Division II rival matchup with Merrimack, as the teams take the field against each other for the first time since 2012. UMass Lowell enters the contest with a three-game winning streak and a 6-3-1 mark over the last 10. Saturday's matchup pits the system opponents together for only the second time, as the River Hawks knocked off Massachusetts, 1-0, last season. 
 
SCOUTING MERRIMACK
- In their first DI season, the Warriors are 2-1 with wins against Northeastern and BU
- Marc Torrellas leads the lineup with two of the team's goals and four points
- In net, Lucas Rezende has a 0.95 GAA and 13 saves
- The River Hawks lead the series, 23-16-1

SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS
- The Minutemen are off to a 4-1 start following a 6-0 win at CCSU
- Graha Brenner has three goals for six points on three shots on target
- Jam McPherson and Logan Brown each have a pair of tallies
- Goalie Marv Dorchin has allowed one goal with 15 saves
- UMass Lowell leads the all-time series, 1-0

FIRST GOAL
Following the win against BU, the River Hawks are 35-1-4 since September 13, 2015 when scoring first.

A HELPING HAND
Four River Hawks are atop the America East with two assists, as Stanley Alves, Renato Kauzlaric, Denis Petro and Dario Jovanovski make up 44 percent of the league's leaders. The team is tied for second among the league's programs with eight total helpers.

AT THE TOP WITH ALVES
Stanley Alves sits in a tie for second among conference leaders with six points. His two goals draw him even for third in the league, and he is one of nine players with two assists.

ROKO MEANS CLUTCH
Roko Prsa is tied for second with two game-winning goals so far in 2019, and has recorded five in his UMass Lowell career.

I LIKE MY SHEETS CLEAN
Last season,  UMass Lowell set a new program mark with 403:33 consecutive shutout minutes. 

HAWK THE VOTE
UMass Lowell has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll for 22 weeks since 2016.

NOTABLES
Denis Petro recorded his first collegiate point against Quinnipiac (9.2) ... six players have made their UMass Lowell debuts in the first three contests of the season.
