LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's soccer team will hit the road Wednesday afternoon to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats in a 4 p.m. tilt at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.

LET'S REWIND…
The River Hawks competed in their second double-overtime contest this season, when they traveled to Providence, R.I. for a matchup with the Friars. Sophomores Emily Nelson (Peabody, Mass.) and Kristina Bartsch (Pulheim, Germany) each attempted shots in the first half, but neither of the shots landed on target, both ricocheting off the crossbar. After battling through the second half, neither team was able to get on the board, pushing the game into overtime.

After a scoreless overtime, the River Hawks rolled into another 10 minutes of play, hoping to put a final end to the game. Unfortunately, in the 103rd minute, Ava Brandt sent a pass to Hannah McNulty who was able to capitalize off the defense and put the ball in the back of the net, bringing the final score to 1-0.

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats enter Wednesday's contest with a 4-1-0 overall record after blanking Hartford on their home field this past Sunday. With the shutout, freshman goalkeeper, Meaghan Phillips tallies her third of the season, recording a 0.818 save percentage.

The last time the River Hawks and the Bobcats met, was on home turf last season, where the squad fell 4-3 in another double overtime battle. Redshirt-senior Kylie Lance, who scored the game winner in last year's matchup returns for the Bobcats, as well as Kelsey Goldring and Gretchen Kron, each notching two goals this season for Quinnipiac.

BUILDING ON A HISTORIC SEASON
The team secured their first-ever bid to the America East Tournament, making their way as far as the championship game. After a stand-out 2018 season by the 11-member freshman class, tallying 17 goals and 44 points, it's no wonder three of them garnered America-East All-Rookie team nominations. Nelson, Dunja Mostarac (Belgrade, Serbia) and Bartsch, continue to strive in the 2019 season, with Bartsch tallying seven shots and Mostarac recording three over the five games. With a goal against the Minutewomen, Nelson continues her scoring streak from last year increasing her career total to eight goals and two assists for a total of 18 points.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
The next time the River Hawks will see home action will be on Saturday, Sept. 21 for a 7 p.m. matchup against UCONN, with a special nod to coaches everywhere for Coach Appreciation Night. Following their tilt with the Huskies, the River Hawks will see their first bit of conference action when they take on the Hartford Hawks on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m., for a Youth Day celebration.

25 YEARS STRONG
This season we would like your help in celebrating 25 years of River Hawk Women's soccer. Our goal is to have 125 donors, which marks the 125th year anniversary of the University, donate $25 dollars to celebrate our 25th season of women's soccer. In the past, funds have been used for locker room renovations, enhancing our high-performance environment, and securing a more challenging out of conference schedule. We are at this point in history because of the previous 24 teams that have paved the way for us, and as we continue to build our program, we need your help!
