LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Another historic moment for the UMass Lowell softball team comes on the heels of a special 2019 season, as junior Courtney Cashman (Danvers, Mass.) and senior Sydney Barker (Upland, Calif.) received National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Region honors on Thursday.

Cashman earned a spot on the All-Northeast Region First Team, while Barker garnered a Second Team nod. This marks the program's first ever Division I All-Region First and Second Team recognition.

Cashman, a three-time America East All-Conference First Team selection, finished her junior season as the national leader for batting average (.508) and on-base percentage (.630), and was seventh in the country for slugging percentage (.886). The shortstop also boasted new career-best and team-leading marks for hits (67), runs (47) and home runs (11). Her 44 walks set an all-time, single-season record for the program, as well.

"I'm so happy for Courtney," said Head Coach Danielle Henderson. "She had a great season with a very impressive batting average, and this is well deserved."

Barker capped her collegiate career with her best season, finishing second on the squad with a .324 average, a .357 on-base percentage and 44 hits. She added five home runs and 25 RBI and a personal-best 20 runs scored. The designated player slugged .419 and was not only named to both the 2019 America East All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team, but also received Google Cloud Academic All-Region honors, as well.

"This is a great accomplishment for Sydney to graduate with," added Henderson. "She was clutch for us all season."
