Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

River Hawks Fall Short at Binghamton, 13-7

VESTAL, N.Y. – Paige MacEachern (Lynnfield, Mass.) netted four goals, but the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (3-10, 0-4 AE) dropped a 13-7 decision at Binghamton (1-12, 1-3 AE) on Saturday afternoon Bearcat Sports Complex.

Binghamton jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first 15 minutes of the game, with four different players scoring. MacEachern kept the River Hawks in it, though, rattling off a pair of goals in a span of less than two minutes.

The Bearcats went on another run, tallying three goals in four minutes, but the River Hawks didn't give up, with Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) and Lauren Hopsicker (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) each scoring a goal. UMass Lowell closed out the half trailing 8-4.

For the eighth time this season, the River Hawks scored first in the second half. MacEachern notched her third goal at 27:50, making this the fifth game she has tallied at least three goals. She added another just 48 seconds later, assisted by Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.), and UMass Lowell cut the deficit to two goals.

Just when it looked like the River Hawks could make a run at the Bearcats, Binghamton answered with five goals of its own and extended the lead to seven. Cameron McKelvin (Westminster, Md.) scored in the final minutes, but the Bearcats ended with a 13-7 win.

Renee Gonzalez (Long Valley, N.J.) made 11 saves, and Hannah Rose (Framingham, Mass.) and Kelly Moran (Newfields, N.H.) led the way in caused turnovers with two each.

MacEachern now holds the longest scoring streak on the team, with goals in the last five games. Her four goals against Binghamton was her second-highest goal total this season, only behind her six-goal game at Boston University.

Next, the River Hawks take on Harvard in a nonconference game on Wednesday, April 10 at 6 p.m.
