LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell men's basketball redshirt-junior
Christian Lutete (Silver Spring, Md.) has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 1 First Team, as selected by CoSIDA and announced on Thursday afternoon.
Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
Lutete boast a 3.76 GPA as an economics major at UMass Lowell. On the court, he leads the River Hawks with 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game with a 53.7 field goal percentage.
The guard becomes the just the third member of the men's basketball program, and the first during the Division I era at UMass Lowell, to earn the prestigious Academic All-District nod, joining Alfred Spinell (1970) and John Paganetti (1982-85).
As a First-Team Academic All-District honoree, Lutete will now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot.
