River Hawks In Georgia for Three-Game Set with No. 9 Bulldogs

LOWELL, Mass –
The UMass Lowell baseball team returns to the diamond at No. 9 Georgia this weekend for a three-game set, beginning on Friday evening.
 
The River Hawks dropped four to Arizona in their season opening series, last weekend, with junior Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) leading the way at the plate with eight hits, two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI and four runs. Oscar Marchena (Miami, Fla.) recorded five hits and crossed the plate five times as well, while Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) recorded his first homer of the season.
 
First Pitch
This weekend's series at Georgia marks the second of three consecutive series for the River Hawks against Top 26 teams. Arizona was ranked 26th and the Bulldogs enter the weekend at No. 9, with No. 6 North Carolina ahead next weekend.

-Climo is batting .533 with eight hits, two homers and seven RBI
-Oscar Marchena has scored five runs on the young season, along with five hits
-With his one home run on the season, Passatempo ranks third all-time with 27 long balls

The River Hawks were voted to the third spot in the America East Coaches' Preseason Poll, marking the highest selection for the program since joining the conference.

No More No-No Streak
Last season on April 21 in the win against Maine, UMass Lowell suffered only the second no-hitter in program history, with the first came in the opening game of 1977, snapping a streak of 1,730 straight games with at least one hit. The River Hawks have a current streak of 23 games with a hit since.
 
Party of One
Last season, UMass Lowell played in 16 one-run games, including 10 consecutive straight from March 16-31, marking the longest stretch in the nation. The River Hawks went 8-9 in such games in 2018.
