River Hawks entertain Holy Cross and Siena in a pair of home games this week

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell comes off a bye week entering the week with a 1-0 record, after a 12-10 season-opening win against Quinnipiac at Cushing Field Complex on Saturday, February 9th. Sophomore attackman Dan Cozzi (Reading, Mass.) recorded a game-high five points and tied a career-high with five assists in the contest for the River Hawks.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS: Holy Cross owns a 0-2 record to start the season, including a 9-7 loss at Vermont this past Saturday. Will Spangenberg and Sean Mullaney each registered two goals in the loss for the Crusaders. Jonathan Tesoro totaled 13 saves in the losing effort for Holy Cross. 

SCOUTING THE SAINTS: Siena was defeated in its season opener on Saturday by a 22-12 score. Dylan Pantalone registered three goals in the loss for the Saints.

LAST TIME OUT: Harry Morrill scored three goals to lead the River Hawks to a 12-10 season-opening victory against Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon at Cushing Field Complex. Cozzi tied a career-high with five assists in the contest for the River Hawks. Senior Cory Highfield (Georgetown, Ont.) sealed the win for the River Hawks with four minutes left for his second tally of the game. Quinnipiac came back in the fourth quarter with four goals, including two by Will Abbott. Matt Miller and Jake Tomsik each totaled three goals apiece for the Bobcats in the losing effort. Morill scored his third of the day just 1:30 into the fourth frame. Domenic Giachello (Somers, Conn.) opened the scoring on the season for the River Hawks just 11 seconds into the opening quarter. The River Hawks owned a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter as Highfield and Morrill added goals. Sophomore Hunter Braun (Hartland, Mich.) stopped six shots in the season opening victory for the River Hawks, while QU's Nick DiMuccio totaled 17 saves in the loss for the Bobcats. The River Hawks outshot Quinnipiac, 41-23 for the game, which included a 24-10 advantage in the first half of play. UMass Lowell forced 16 caused turnovers in the contest to Quinnipiac's nine. Junior Brett Dattilo (Derry, N.H.) won a team-high 10 face-offs for UMass Lowell.

IN THE POLLS: The River Hawks received votes for the first time in school history in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll last Monday (2/11) and are receiving votes this week in the NEILA Poll (2/18).

MORRILL WINS AE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sophomore attackman Harry Morrill (Hyde Park, Mass.) was named AE Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday, February 11th. He totaled three goals in the season opener for the River Hawks on Saturday in the 12-10 victory against Quinnipiac. He finished the game with 11 of UMass Lowell's 29 shots on goal in the contest.
