River Hawks Wrap Up Regular Season at Hartford

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's soccer team heads to Hartford for the regular-season finale after clinching the program's third consecutive America East Championship berth with the 2-1 win against Stony Brook.

The winner of the matchup will secure the fourth and final hosting seed in the upcoming tournament.

RIVER HAWK LEADERS
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) paces the lineup with his four goals and 10 points, and is one of four players with two or more assists. Roko Prsa (Sisak, Croatia), Sancho Maroto Tobias (Alcobendas, Madrid) and Alejandro Osorio (Hollywood, Fla.) have scored a pair as well, while Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) has helped facilitate the offense with his five helpers. Between the pipes, Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) has 21 saves and an 0.97 GAA, along with five shutouts.

ROOKIE SZN
With his two-goal performance in the win against Stony Brook, Sancho Maroto Tobias was named the America East Rookie of the Week. The freshman's first career scores in the second half sent the River Hawks to their third consecutive America East tournament.

FIRST GOAL WINS
The River Hawks bounced back in the win at Stony Book to improve their record to 41-2-4 since September 13, 2015 when scoring first. 

SCOUTING HARTFORD
- The Hawks are 9-4-4 with a 3-2-1 mark in league play
- Only two wins have come at home
- Nick Benjamin and Kamer Nuhui have both scored three goals, with Benjamin adding an assist to lead the team with seven points
- Jimmy Slayon had made 17 appearances in net, posting a 0.96 GAA with 69 saves
- Hartford owns a 7-3 edge in the all-time series, but the River Hawks have won the last three

KING OF THE NET
Patrik Gujic returned to action but saw his program record consecutive shutout minutes streak snapped in the 71st minute, ending the run at 563:07. The sophomore has now surpassed Bobby Ritter's consecutive minutes and Ritter's four consecutive shutout marks. 
 
I LIKE MY SHEETS CLEAN
The River Hawks consecutive shutout minutes program record ended at 506:32. The new mark surpassed the previous record by over 100 minutes (403:33) that the 2018 team set.

HOME, SWEET HOME
Over the last 33 games at Cushing Field, the hosts are 25-4-4 dating back to 2016, including a 1-1 mark in the postseason.The River Hawks are 34-11-5 in the Mill City since 2014.

AGAINST THE CONFERENCE AT CUSHING
Since the end of the 2015 season, UMass Lowell is 14-2-1 against America East opponents at Cushing Field. The loss against New Hampshire was the River Hawks' first setback since the 2017 America East Championship game, and snapped the team's five-game streak. 

ROLLING WITH RENATO
Renato Kauzlaric is one of four players in the conference with five or more assists. The sophomore has dished out seven helpers in his young career with the River Hawks.

ROKO MEANS CLUTCH
Roko Prsa is tied for third in the league with two game-winning goals so far in 2019, and has recorded five in his UMass Lowell career.

HAWK THE VOTE
UMass Lowell has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll for 22 weeks since 2016.

NOTABLES
Mario Mora Perez (Liberia, Costa Rica) scored his first career goal at Massachusetts (9.21) ... Denis Petro (Michalovce, Slovakia) recorded his first collegiate point against Quinnipiac (9.2)and scored his goal at Merrimack (9.17) ... six players have made their UMass Lowell debuts in the first three contests of the season.
