BOSTON -- Following his five-save effort to secure his fourth straight shutout and the UMass Lowell men's soccer team's fifth consecutive win, sophomore goalkeeper
Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) has been tabbed the America East Defensive Player of the week for the first time in his career, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Gujic has made the start in all nine games this season and the five stops were a season-high as he kept the Binghamton offense at bay in the River Hawks 1-0 victory on Saturday evening. The River Hawks sit atop the conference with a 2-0 mark to stay even with New Hampshire.
The Croatian also made a move in the program's record books as he surpassed a 15-year-old mark and is the program's all-time leader with 392:20 consecutive shutout minutes. Gujic's four blank sheets in 2019 pace the league's goalies, as well.
Heading into the week's action against Harvard (10.8) and UAlbany (10.12),  Gujic is posting a 1.07 goals against average and has made 18 stops in the current campaign.Â
