LOWELL, Mass. -- Senior goaltender
Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) of the No. 18 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Wall registered 68 saves on 72 shots (.944 save%) in the weekend split against No. 1 Minnesota Duluth at AMSOIL Arena. Wall totaled 32 saves in the 3-2 win on Friday night against the Bulldogs and then followed that up with a 36-save effort in the 2-1 loss in the series finale on Saturday night. He amassed a total of 28 saves in the third period over the two nights.
"Tyler had a very good weekend in Duluth," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "He continues to be one of our most consistent players this year. We look for him to continue his positive trend as we battle more non-conference competition this week."
In four starts this season, Wall owns a 3-1-0 record with a 1.50 GAA and a .942 save percentage for the River Hawks.
It marks the sixth time that Wall has been honored as the league's Defensive Player of the Week in his UMass Lowell career.
