No. 22 River Hawks Look to Stay Unbeaten Against Pair of Boston Teams

LOWELL, Mass. –
 Riding a four-game unbeaten streak to begin the season, the No. 22 UMass Lowell men's soccer team made its first appearance in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 of the season, and has a pair of games in a four-day span this week.
 
In the River Hawks' 2-0 week, Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) scored all three goals for the boys in blue, spanning a total of 21 minutes of game time. The forward's brace at Boston University occured in the 73rd and 78th minutes, while the game-winner against CCSU happened in the third minute.
 
RIVER HAWK LEADERS
Following his outburst, Alves leads the team with three scores and six points, while Jakov Basic (Zagreb, Croatia) and Ivan Abramovic (Zagreb, Croatia) each have a goal. Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) has a pair of helpers, while a trio has one each. Between the pipes, Zach Rowell (Haverhill, Mass.) is 3-0-1 with seven saves and a 0.23 GAA. 
 
HAWK THE VOTE
For the first time since September 2017, the River Hawks appeared in the Top 25. This marks the 19th week that UMass Lowell has been ranked since 2016.

PLAYING FAVORITES
For the second consecutive season, the River Hawks were picked as the favorite to win the America East, voted on by the coaches.
 
SCOUTING HARVARD
The Crimson (1-1-0) just knocked off Providence, 2-1, for its first win of the season. No player has scored more than a single goal so far, as Harvard has four on the season. Paolo Belloni-Urso leads the lineup with a pair of assists. In net, Matt Freese has played all 189:32, allowing four goals for a 1.90 GAA, and has made nine stops.
 
Last season's 3-0 win against Harvard was the first match of the all-time series.
 
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
The Huskies (1-3-0) have lost three straight, including two against America East foes, heading into Sunday's matchup. Ryan Massoud has accounted for 80 percent of Northeastern's goal with four on the season. Adama Kaba has two of the team's four assists, as well. Noah Abrams has made all four starts with a 1.46 GAA and a .700 save percentage.
 
With the Huskies 2-1 win in double-overtime, they improved to 8-3 against the River Hawks all-time.
 
HOME, SWEET HOME
Over the last 19 games at Cushing Field, the hosts are 15-1-3 dating back to 2016. The River Hawks are 24-8-4 in the Mill City since 2014.
