No. 19 River Hawks Host Holy Cross in Non-Conference Finale

LOWELL, Mass. –
 Following 2-0 win to open the America East slate, the No. 19 UMass Lowell men's soccer team takes on Holy Cross to wrap up the non-conference schedule on Tuesday night.

Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) and Mayele Malango (Kinshasa, Congo) both picked up their first career goals, and Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) racked up a career-high six stops in net.
 
RIVER HAWK LEADERS
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) still paces the team with four scores and nine points, with three game-winning goals, while Prsa is the only other River Hawk with multiple goals (3g, 2a). Kauzlaric and Malango have a pair of helpers to go with their tallies. Between the pipes, Zach Rowell (Haverhill, Mass.) is 5-0-2 with 16 saves and a 0.28 GAA, in addition to four shutouts, while Gujic is 1-1-0 with eight saves and a 0.40 GAA.
 
FIRST GOAL WINS
The River Hawks are 29-0-3 in the team's last 32 contests in which UMass Lowell scores first. The program's last loss when cracking the scoreboard first was September 13, 205 in a 2-1 setback against Canisius. 

I LIKE MY SHEETS CLEAN
Stanford's lone goal snapped UMass Lowell's program record consecutive shutout minutes mark at 403:33. Entering the week, the River Hawks rank sixth with a team goals against average of 0.351.

SOARING IN THE NATION
Rowell is ranked fourth in the country in GAA, as well as being tied for fifth in clean sheets and save percentage. Alves sits in a tie for fifth with his three game-willing tallies, tied atop the conference, as well. 

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
- The Crusaders just picked up their first win on season, and sit at 1-3-3
- Holy Cross is 0-2-1 on the road, and have been outscored 5-1
- Simon Becher (3g, 1a) leads the team with seven points
- Henry Stutz has a 1.38 GAA with 38 saves in net
- This is the first DI meeting between the programs, Holy Cross leads series, 5-3

HAWK THE VOTE
UMass Lowell has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll for 22 weeks since 2016. The River Hawks are also the top team in the Northeast poll for the third consecutive week. 

HOME, SWEET HOME
Over the last 20 games at Cushing Field, the hosts are 17-1-3 dating back to 2016. The River Hawks are 26-8-4 in the Mill City since 2014.

Earlier this month, Basic was named as one of 32 players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist. The MAC Hermann in college soccer's most prestigious individual award.
 
AWARD SZN
Kauzlaric and Gujic were named AE Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week (9.24) ... coming off his first career shutout, Rowell was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week (8.20).

PLAYING FAVORITES
For the second consecutive season, the River Hawks were picked as the favorite to win the America East, voted on by the coaches.
 
NOTABLES
Gujic earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week (9.24) ... 27 of the 32 River Hawks on the roster have seen action in 2018  ... the River Hawks have won four consecutive season openers ... in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll UMass Lowell received 10 votes.
