BERKELEY, Calif. – Two second-goals and 110 minutes could not separate the No. 15 UMass Lowell men's soccer team and California, as the programs battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Sunday afternoon.
Roko Prsa's (Zagreb, Croatia) 66th minute goal came less than 10 minutes after the Golden Bears' (4-1-2) strike, as the River Hawks (5-1-2) wrapped up their West Coast road trip.
"I thought we had moments where we looked very good today," remarked Head Coach
Christian Figueroa. "It's tough to have to fly across the country for two games in three days, but our guys did a great job competing against two-very good Pac-12 programs. This trip did exactly what we thought it would do -- prepare us for conference play."
California outshot the visitors, 22-10, but
Zach Rowell (Haverhill, Mass.) set a career high with six stops, including three in the opening 45 minutes.
The Golden Bears accounted for three of the four shots in the extra periods, but neither keeper was forced to make a stop in the 20 minutes.
On Prsa's third goal of the season,
Dario Jovanovski (Zagreb, Croatia) picked up his 14th career helper and first of the 2018 campaign.
UMass Lowell returns home and opens its America East slate with a 5 p.m. clash against Vermont on September 22.
