SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell Lowell enters the week with a 1-9 overall record, after losses to South Dakota State, Eastern Illinois and the host Bulldogs last weekend at the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa. Junior outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led the team with 25 kills in 10 sets, while senior libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) paced the River Hawks' defense with 34 digs. Senior middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) leads the River Hawks with 71 kills and 2.93 kills per set. She has registered 9+ kills in four matches so far this season. Adeniyi was the lone River Hawk named to the Drake Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the three matches in Des Moines last weekend. She finished with 20 kills and eight total blocks on the weekend for UMass Lowell.
UMass Lowell's 1.24 service aces per set rank third among America East teams and its 14.71 digs per set is fourth best in the conference.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES: Boston College owns a perfect 9-0 overall record entering its Thursday night match at Harvard, which includes a 3-0 record at Power Gym. The Eagles defeated Lafayette, Siena and Dartmouth last weekend all by 3-0 scores at the Dartmouth Invitational. McKenna Goss led the Eagles with nine kills in the 3-0 win on Saturday vs. the Big Green. Cat Balido leads the team with 78 kills on the season.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON: Harvard owns a 2-4 record coming into Thursday's match. The Crimson are coming off a 3-1 win against Fairfield last Saturday. Christina Cornelius posted a team-best 12 kills in the Crimson victory. Cornelius leads Harvard with 55 kills and 2.3 kills per set.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: Northeastern owns a 5-5 overall record headed into the weekend, which includes a current three-match win streak. Hannah Boyd and Athena Ardila each notched 23 kills in the Huskies' 3-1 win at UNH on Tuesday, September 11th. Boyd leads the team with 120 kills and 3.75 kills per set.
LAST TIME OUT: The River Hawks fell in straight sets against host Drake on Saturday afternoon at the Knapp Center. The set scores were 22-25, 13-25 16-25.
Madi Bell finished with a match-high 12 kills, to go along with nine digs in the losing effort for the River Hawks.
Lade Adeniyi chipped in with four kills and four total blocks.
Lindsey Visvardis managed a team-best 12 digs in another strong defensive effort. Sophomore setter
Malia Randolph (McDonough, Ga.) also added eight digs. The River Hawks had a team-best 12 kills in the opening frame. UMass Lowell led most of the first half of the opening set, but couldn't hold on against Drake. The opening set was very close as there were 14 tie scores and four lead changes.
VISVARDIS DIGGING HER WAY TO THE TOP: Visvardis has recorded 1,404 digs in her 3+ year career since joining the River Hawks in 2015, which ranks 36th among active NCAA players. Visvardis ranks fifth on the all-time school digs list, as she passed Kristina Martell (1,275; 2004-2007) during the opening weekend. She needs 48 digs to tie Stacey Graf for fourth place on the all-time UMass Lowell digs list. Visvardis' 3.97 digs per set is fourth best among America East players. She has amassed 135 digs in 34 sets this season, which is tied for fourth among league players. She has registered 10+ digs in eight of 10 matches and she totaled a season-high 21 digs in the 3-2 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on September 1st.
