LOWELL, Mass. -- Following his performance in the regular-season finale for the UMass Lowell baseball team, freshman Henry Funaro (Lowell, Mass.) was named the final America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. 

Funaro book ended the 2018 season with awards, as he was the first Rookie of the Week in February and has been honored with the title three times in his freshman campaign.

In the 5-3 win against Stony Brook on Saturday, the Lowell, Mass. native earned his team-leading fifth win of the season with five scoreless innings of relief, scattering three hits and striking out four.

The freshman retired the first nine batters he faced before allowing a leadoff single in the eighth inning. 

By earning the two seed, the River Hawks have a first-round bye and will open their first America East Championship on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
