LOWELL, Mass. -- Before its first game at LeLacheur Park this weekend, the UMass Lowell baseball teams heads out for two non-conference contests against local rivals, Dartmouth and Massachusetts.

The River Hawks suffered three-straight losses at Binghamton last weekend, but Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) was able to record his fifth home run of the season.

Leading the Flock
Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) sits atop the lineup with his .385 average, 37 hits, seven home runs, eight doubles and third with 18 RBI. Colby Maiola (North Reading, Mass.) is batting .327, with 21 RBI and eight stolen bases, while Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) is on top with 25 RBI. As a team, UMass Lowell has connected for 16 home runs and 212 hits. On the mound, Luke Tom (Chili, N.J.) is posting a 3.00 ERA and three pitchers have two wins apiece. The top three strikeout leaders are Jack Riley (43), Andrew Ryan (40) and Connor Metelski (31). Nick Rand (Hyde Park, N.Y.) has picked up three saves, with Metelski and Funaro each having one. The River Hawks are batting .239 as a team, with a 5.89 ERA.

Chelmsford Slugger
With his team leading .753 slugging percentage, Olive has climbed up the national rankings as he currently sits in eighth. He remains the highest ranked America East player, and the leader among New England schools as well. The junior is second in America East in batting average and leads the conference in homers, as well.

Party of One
Following the River Hawks' 9-0 win against Gardner-Webb on March 13, UMass Lowell played in 10 consecutive one-run games from March 16-31, the longest stretch in the nation this year. The River Hawks are 4-6 in that stretch, and 5-7 in one-run decisions in 2018.

Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green (7-14-1) are 2-1-1 in its last four game, but enter the matchup after a 12-3 loss against Columbia. Sean Sullivan is batting .422 with 35 hits in 20 games and is one of three batters with a triple. Five batters have connected on a pair of homers, and Dustin Shirley lead the group with 14 RBI. Cole O'Connor paces the staff with a 4.10 ERA and his three wins, while Jack Fossand and Clay Chatham have struck out 25 apiece. As a unit, Dartmouth is batting .274 with a 6.81 ERA.

The River Hawks have taken the last two meetings, both in New Hampshire, and lead the all-time series 9-4.

Scouting Massachusetts
The Minutemen (9-12) take on Boston College in the Beanpot Consolation on Tuesday before hosting the River Hawks. Ryan Lever is atop the lineup with his .307 average and 27 hits. Eddy Hart has two of the team's five homers, and Nolan Kessinger has 19 RBI. On the mound, Justin Lasko is one of three pitchers with two wins and is posting a 3.15 ERA with 25 strikeouts. As a team, Massachusetts is batting .251 with a staff ERA of 5.94.

UMass Lowell has taken the previous two meetings by a combined score of 13-3 to take a 2-1 lead in the all-time series.

Home Run Trot
With 16 home runs already in 2018, the River Hawks are on pace to tie their DI high with 37 long balls, set last season. UMass Lowell has only one player reach double-digits since making the jump, as Steve Passatempo connected on 11 in 2016.
