DURHAM, N.H. -- The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team fell, 14-5, to New Hampshire on the road on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. The loss moved the River Hawks to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play, as New Hampshire moved to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in the America East.
The River Hawks season-high 29 turnovers proved to be costly with the home team taking 11 turnovers and converting them into goals.
The Wildcats opened the scoring just over one minute into play after Carly Wooters beat the River Hawk keeper to give the home team an early 1-0 lead.
Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.) capitalized on a free position attempt at the 26:45 minute mark to tie the game up, and less then a minute later,
Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.) took a pass from
Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.) to give the River Hawks a 2-1 lead.
New Hampshire went on a 7-0 run over the next 20 minutes to take an 8-2 lead with just 5:16 remaining in the first half.
Hana Caster (North Attleboro, Mass.) collected a ground ball after an uncaused Wildcat turnover and ran down the field to go one-on-one with the UNH keeper and buried it into the back of the net to cut the lead to 8-3 with just over three minutes in the first half.
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) stopped seven shots in the opening 30 minutes to help keep the deficit to just five at the half.
UNH won the opening draw and scored just 21 seconds into the second to extend their lead to six with 29:39 on the clock in the second half.

Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) took a pass from Finelli in front of the net, turned and shot the ball into the back of the net to make it a 9-4 game with 25:47 remaining in regulation.
Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y) stopped a 2-0 run from the Wildcats after taking a pass from Finelli and beating the Wildcat keeper to cut the deficit to six at 11-5 with just under 19 minutes remaining.
Over 13 minutes of scoreless action went by before UNH scored to make it a 12-5 game with 6:05 to go in regulation. The home team tallied two more goals to come away with a 14-5 victory at Bremner Field.
Renee Gonzalez (Long Valley, N.J.) stopped four shots in the final 30 minutes of the contest.
The River Hawks return to action this Saturday when they welcome Hartford to Wicked Blue Field for the first-ever matchup between the two schools in the sport of women's lacrosse. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
