LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell baseball team wraps up the month of April with a series that pits together the top two teams in the America East, as the River Hawks head to Hartford to take on the first-place Hawks.

In mid-week action, UMass Lowell fell to Boston College, 9-4, in the final contest of the River Hawks eight-game homestand. Behind a pair of conference series wins, UMass Lowell posted a 5-3 mark on the homestand and moved up into second place. Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) moved up in the records book as he sent his 11th homer of the season over the fence against the Eagles, tying the program's DI single-season mark.

Leading the Flock
Olive sits atop the lineup with his .381 average, 51 hits, 11 home runs, 11 doubles and is third with 28 RBI. Colby Maiola (North Reading, Mass.) is batting .306, with 10 stolen bases and is second overall with 29 RBI. Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) is now back atop the lineup with 32 runs driven in. As a team, UMass Lowell has connected for 26 home runs and 29 hits. On the mound, Luke Tomczyk (Chili, N.Y.) is posting a 2.57 ERA, with Connor Metelski (Wall Township, N.J.), Andrew Ryan (Rochester, Mass.), Dan Cunico (Sandyston, N.J.) and Henry Funaro (Lowell, Mass.) pace the staff with three wins apiece. The top three strikeout leaders are Andrew Ryan (56), Jack Riley (55) and Henry Funaro (38). Nick Rand (Hyde Park, N.Y.) has picked up four saves, and Tomczyk earned a pair over the weekend. The River Hawks are batting .247 as a team, with a 5.52 ERA.

Chelmsford Slugger
With his team leading .739 slugging percentage, Olive sits seventh in the nation. He remains the highest ranked America East player and is the leader among New England schools. The junior is third in America East in batting average and leads the conference in homers, as well.

No More No-No Streak
Last Saturday's no-hitter was only the second time in program history that the offense could not deliver a base knock. The first came in the opening game of 1977, snapping a streak of 1,730 straight games with at least one hit.

Break Out the Brooms
The sweep of UMBC was only the third clean sheet in a series for the River Hawks since joining the America East, and first in the Mill City. The previous two came at UMBC (2014) and at Hartford (2015).

Award SZN
Ryan and Funaro picked up Pitcher and Co-Rookie of the Week (4.17) ... Olive earned America East Player of the Week honors (3.13) ... Funaro was named the AE Rookie of the Week (2.20).

Scouting Hartford
The Hawks (14-24, 8-4) have lost five straight overall, but have taken their last five conference games to move atop the standings. Nick Campana is pacing the lineup with his .409 average, 56 hits, 28 runs, 14 doubles and 16 stolen bases. His five home runs and 25 RBI are second behind Ashton Bardzell's seven dingers and 27 RBI. The pitching staff is led by Seth Pinkerton's 2.59 and eight saves. Drew Farkas is 5-0, while Nathan Florence has struck out 55 in 49 innings.

The River Hawks lead the all-time series, 13-10, but the Hawks have an 8-7 edge in the Division I era.

One-Two Punch
Entering the week, Andrew Ryan and Jack Riley are the top strikeout producers in the America East. Ryan has recorded 56, with Riley right behind him with 55 strikeouts.

Home Run Trot
With 26 home runs already in 2018, the River Hawks are on pace to tie their DI high with 37 long balls, set last season. Olive is two home runs away from setting the DI program single-season mark.

Colby Jack
UMass Lowell has connected on two grand slams over the last two seasons, both coming off the bat of Maiola.

Party of One
Following the River Hawks' 9-0 win against Gardner-Webb on March 13, UMass Lowell played in 10 consecutive one-run games from March 16-31, the longest stretch in the nation this year. The River Hawks are 4-6 in that stretch, and 5-7 in one-run decisions in 2018.

Multitasking
The River Hawks have had 13 players record a total of 73 multi-hit games, as Olive leads the way with 18. The lineup has produced 38 multi-RBI games, with Climo pacing the team with 10.

Five Spot
Two River Hawks have recorded five RBI in a single game, after Maiola's performance at Dartmouth. Climo was the first to do it this season in the team's second game of the year.
