LOWELL, Mass. -- Following a competitive weekend at Wake Forest, the UMass Lowell baseball team begins a three-game set in Lexington, Va., facing off against the VMI Keydets.

The River Hawks battled against the Demon Deacons, forcing a rubber game with a 5-3 victory on March 3, but could not keep pace in the series finale and fell 14-7. John Polichetti (Atkinson, N.H.) drove in four on the weekend, and Dan Cunico (Sandyston, N.J.) earned his first career win, allowing one run in 2.2 innings on Saturday.

Leading the Flock
Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) paces the offense with 10 RBI, Colby Maiola (North Reading, Mass.) has 11 hits and three doubles. Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) leads the lineup with his .294 average. Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) has two homers, and Maiola has swiped three bases, as well. On the mound, Cunico is posting a 3.52 ERA and is one of three pitchers with a win on the year. Andrew Ryan (Rochester, Mass.) has recorded 15 strikeouts, while Nick Rand (Hyde Park, N.Y.) has picked up two saves. The River Hawks are batting .228 as a team, with a 8.09 ERA.

Multitasking
The River Hawks have had nine players record a total of 21 multi-hit games, as Maiola and Olive lead the way with four apiece. The lineup has produced seven multi-RBI games, with Climo's pair pacing the team.
