LOWELL, Mass. -- Freshman goalie
Hunter Braun (Hartland, Mich.) of the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
Braun recorded 36 saves in two games last week, including a school-record 21 saves in the 14-10 win at Binghamton in the America East opener on Saturday afternoon. Braun owned a .610 save percentage during the 1-1 week for the River Hawks.Â
"Experience is so important for a freshman and Hunter has improved with each outing," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Ed Stephenson. "I've been impressed with his intensity and focus."
It marks the first weekly award in his River Hawk career.Â
He has started six of eight games for UMass Lowell in his freshman campaign, posting a 4-3-0 record with a 10.89 GAA and a .553 save percentage. His 88 saves and 12.57 saves per contests leads all America East goalies.Â
UMass Lowell returns to action on Saturday, March 24th against top-ranked UAlbany on Youth Lacrosse Day. Game time from Cushing Field Complex in Lowell is 7 p.m.Â
