LOWELL, Mass. -- Fresh off a 2-1 weekend against the VMI Keydets, the UMass Lowell baseball team continues its spring break with four games spanning two states, as the River Hawks take on Gardner-Webb in North Carolina and head back to Virginia for a weekend series at James Madison.
Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the charge at VMI, as he belted four home runs, drove in eight RBI, recorded seven hits and scored five times as well.
Colby Maiola (North Reading, Mass.) added his first two homers of the year, and
Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) went deep as well. On the mound,
Jack Riley (Worcester, Mass.) and
Andrew Ryan (Rochester, Mass.) earned their first wins of 2018.
Leading the Flock
After his weekend, Olive sits atop the lineup with his .354 average, 17 hits, five home runs and is tied for the team lead with 12 RBI. Maiola is batting .302 with four doubles and four stolen bases, while
