CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Senior attackman
Jon Phillips (Delta, B.C.) scored four points and a hat trick to pace the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team in a 10-9 road loss at Harvard on Saturday afternoon at Jordan Field.
UMass Lowell drops to 1-1 overall on the season, while the Crimson win their season opener of the 2018 campaign.Â

Sean Tyrrell (Calgary, Alta.) got the River Hawks got to within one goal with four seconds left in regulation, but UMass Lowell couldn't complete the comeback.
The River Hawks trailed 5-2 at halftime, but they scored seven goals in the final two quarters to make a game of it. Senior
Matt Balter (Albany, N.Y.) scored two of the four goals for UMass Lowell in the third frame.Â
Harvard opened the game with a 2-0 lead, but Phillips scored two goals less than two minutes apart at the end of the first quarter.Â

Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) stopped 10 shots, while Harvard's Robert Shaw totaled nine saves in the win.Â

Austin Lane (Aurora, Ont.) notched a game-high 10 shots, adding a goal in the third quarter to make it a 7-5 game. Harvard's Kyle Anderson also added a hat trick in the win for the Crimson.
UMass Lowell outshot Harvard, 44-33 for the game, which included a 25-11 shot advantage for the River Hawks in the second and third quarters combined.Â
The River Hawks wrap up their three-game road trip to open the season with a match up at Siena on Saturday, February 24th. Game time from Loudonville, N.Y. is 1 p.m.
