AMHERST, Mass. – The UMass Lowell Hockey team was defeated at Massachusetts, 3-0 in Hockey East play on Saturday night at the Mullins Center.

The River Hawks fall to 16-14-0 overall (10-10-0 HEA) with the losing effort, while the Minutemen improve to 13-16-2 overall (7-12-2 HEA).

The Minutemen added a pair of empty net goals by Philip Lagunov and Niko Hildenbrand in the final three minutes of the game to seal the win. Hildenbrand finished the game with two goals.

Hildenbrand gave UMass a 1-0 lead just 6:49 into the game to open the scoring.

Junior forward Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) finished the night with a game-high seven shots on goal. UMass Lowell's penalty kill was a perfect 3-for-3 on the night.

Junior goaltender Christoffer Hernberg (Espoo, Finland) made 22 stops in his 20th start of the season for the River Hawks, while Matt Murray stopped 30 shots in the win for the Minutemen.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday, February 15th at Providence. Game time from Schneider Arena is 7 p.m.
