River Hawks Back in Action at Massachusetts

LOWELL, Mass. -- Following a nine-day break the UMass Lowell women's basketball team will play its final game before the holiday break with a contest at Massachusetts on Friday afternoon.

The River Hawks saw Dartmouth pull away in the 70-54 setback in New Hampshire on December 12. Brianna Rudolph (Lynn, Mass.) led the way with 13 points, and Bri Stiers (Denver, Colo.) matched her career high with 12 points in the effort.

A Look at the River Hawks
-Brianna Rudolph is averaging 10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game
-Ren'Cia Rolling (Lansing, Ill.) has 57 assists and 21 steals
-Rolling and Linda Svenne (Riga, Latvia) have combined for 29 of the team's 48 three-pointers
-The River Hawks are shooting 39.8 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from beyond the arc

Scouting Massachusetts
-The Minutewomen sit at 7-5 with a 5-1 mark at home
-Hailey Leidel and Bre Hampton-Bey lead the way with 14.6 and and 12.3 points per game
-Hampton-Bey has recorded 46 assists and 21 steals
-Massachusetts is connecting on 41 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range

Tri-State of Mind
Following the win in Brooklyn, the last two UMass Lowell road wins have occurred within 6.2 miles of each other. Last season the River Hawks knocked off Saint Peter's (Jersey City, N.J.).

Rolling All the Way to the Top
With her 10 assists against Fisher, Ren'Cia Rolling became the program' s DI single-game leader and the first player to reach double digit assists in a game since 2012.

Helping Each Other Out
The 25 team assists by UMass Lowell set a new Division I team high and is the most by a River Hawk team since 2016.

Stealing a Spot in the Records
With her six steals against Bryant, Brianna Rudolph now holds the Division I single-game mark. She now sits sixth in DI career history with 52 swipes.

Stealers and Helpers
The River Hawks have recorded 10+ steals and assists in two contests in 2018-19, a feat the team achieved four times in 2017-18.

Speeding Up the Fast Break
In the first 10 games of the season, UMass Lowell has scored 63 points on the break, nearly doubling last season's average (3.2). The 2017-18 River Hawks only eclipsed eight points three times and matched the output once.

Notables
Garrick became third fastest coach in program history to pick up his first win with UMass Lowell.
