River Hawks Take On UNH with Trip to Title Game On the Line

LOWELL, Mass. –
in a rematch of the 2017 America East semifinals, the UMass Lowell men's soccer team will take the field against New Hampshire for a chance to advance to the title game, on Wednesday night in Durham. Last season the teams met in Lowell, with the River Hawks knocking off the Wildcats, 2-1, for the program's first Division I postseason victory. 

In quarterfinal action, Owen Miller (Medford, Mass.) scored his first career goal in the 88th minute to propel UMass Lowell to a 1-0 win against UAlbany, while UNH earned a first-round bye and waited to see which team would make the trip to the Granite State.

Tickets will be cash only and are $8 for adults, $5 for children ($14 and under), and $2 for any America East student-athletes (with valid ID). 

POSTSEASON PORTAL
Dating back to Division II the River Hawks have appeared in the semifinals in their last five postseason appearances. 

DEJA VU
With the team set for its fourth America East postseason contests, the River Hawks have matched up with each UAlbany and New Hampshire twice. This will also be the second meeting between UMass Lowell and the Wildcats in 12 days. 

10 SPOT
For the first time since 1999-2005, UMass Lowell has won 10 games in a single season. Christian Figueroa has led his team to five 10-win seasons in eight campaigns at the helm.

RIVER HAWK LEADERS
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) enters the postseason pacing the offense (5g, 2a), with a total of 12 points. Roko Prsa (Zagreb, Croatia) trails Alves by one point (4g, 3a) and paces the offense in helpers. Alves and Prsa have combined for six of UMass Lowell's nine game-winning goals. Between the pipes, Zach Rowell (Haverhill, Mass.) is 8-1-2 with 22 saves and a 0.37 GAA, in addition to six shutouts, while Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) has a team-high 24 saves.
 
SOARING IN THE NATION
- Rowell leads all of Division I with a 0.37 GAA
- Alves' four game-winning goals sit tied for 22nd

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats earned the two-seed and a first round bye in the tournament
- Antonio Colacci leads the offense with four goals and 11 points
- Jack Doherty has dished out a team-high four assists
- In net, Lars Huxsohl has seven shutouts with a 0.62 GAA and a 9-3-2 record
- UNH defeated the River Hawks on Oct. 26 to take a 4-3 lead in the all-time series

FIRST GOAL
The quarterfinal victory improved the River Hawks to 33-1-3 since September 13, 2015 when UMass Lowell scores first. 

HOME, SWEET HOME
Over the last 26 games at Cushing Field, the hosts are 21-2-3 dating back to 2016, including a 2-1 mark in the postseason.The River Hawks are 30-9-4 in the Mill City since 2014.

Stanford's lone goal snapped UMass Lowell's program record consecutive shutout minutes mark at 403:33. 

HAWK THE VOTE
UMass Lowell has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll for 22 weeks since 2016.

#BASICFORMACHERMANN
Before the season, Basic was named as one of 32 players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist. The MAC Hermann in college soccer's most prestigious individual award.
 
AWARD SZN
Kauzlaric and Gujic were named AE Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week (9.24) ... coming off his first career shutout, Rowell was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week (8.20).

PLAYING FAVORITES
For the second consecutive season, the River Hawks were picked as the favorite to win the America East, voted on by the coaches.
 
NOTABLES
Gujic earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week (9.24) ... 27 of the 32 River Hawks on the roster have seen action in 2018  ... the River Hawks have won four consecutive season openers ... in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll UMass Lowell received 10 votes.
