INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight contest,
Brianna Rudolph (Lynn, Mass.) led the UMass Lowell women's basketball team in scoring, as she scored 16 points in the team's, 89-36, loss at Butler on Tuesday afternoon.
"I come away thinking that we have a long way to go and that Butler is a very good and disciplined team," remarked Head Coach
Tom Garrick. "I learned what I need to do personally to help our team get better. We have some resilence and some fight but I'll focus on how I can help the team get better."
The Bulldogs (4-0) opened the contest on a 19-0 run before
Oda Shackelford (Edinburgh, Ind.) put the River Hawks (2-3) on the board from the free throw line.
Rudolph picked up 10 of her points in the second half, including six in the third period. The guard picked up her four points in the span of 35 seconds with a put back at the third quarter buzzer and a layup to start the fourth after a Butler turnover.
Butler had four players in double-figures, led by Michelle Weaver's 17 points and Whitney Jenning's 15. Tori Schickel picked up a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Behind a traditional three-point play, Rudolph had six points at the half while
Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.) knocked down UMass Lowell's first three of the contest.
Bri Stiers (Denver, Colorado) went 4-for-4 from the line and matched her season high with three assists on the day.
The River Hawks return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday with a visit to Seton Hall on November 27.
