HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior forward
Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) tallied a game-high two goals to lead the UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 5-2 road victory at UConn on Friday night in Hockey east play at the XL Center.
The River Hawks improved their record to 5-5-1 overall (2-3-1 HEA) with the victory, while UConn drops to 5-5-1 overall (2-4-1 HEA) after the loss.
"I am certainly pleased to get two points in a tough environment," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "It was a good hockey game, the first was very very even, in the second we found a way to get a few in there and then we found a way to close it out in the third. For a young team, that's what we were really looking for."
Senior forward
Nick Master (Broomall, Pa.) added an empty-netter with less than three minutes left to seal the win for the River Hawks.
UConn's Karl El-Mir added a shorthanded tally to cut the River Hawks lead to 4-2 just 2:28 in the third period for his sixth goal of the season.
Senior forward
Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) scored just 14 seconds into the middle stanza and junior
Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) extended the River Hawks lead to 4-1 in the second period. Dmowski totaled a game-high six shots on net for UMass Lowell.
Freshman forward
Lucas Condotta (Georgetown, Ont.) gave the River Hawks a 2-1 lead on the power play for his third of the year with a wrister in the slot that beat
UConn's Adam Huska blocker side with just 54 seconds to go in the opening frame.
UConn got on the score sheet first with a goal by Ruslan Iskhakov just 4:28 into the game, but Dmowski tied the game for the River Hawks less than four minutes later for his third tally of the year.
Junior goalie
Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) amassed a season-high 38 saves in his seventh start of the season for UMass Lowell, which included 16 saves in the second period and 13 in the final frame. UConn's Adam Huska stopped 27 shots for the Huskies in the losing effort.
Sophomore forward
Charlie Levesque (Russell, Ont.) recorded a game-high 10 faceoff wins (83%).
Connor Sodergren (Tewksbury, Mass.) notched a career-high three assists, while Levesque totaled two helpers in the win.
UMass Lowell went 1-for-4 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
