River Hawks fall in overtime at Northeastern, 5-4 on Saturday

Ryan Lohin scores another two goals in the loss at Matthews Arena
BOSTON – Junior forward Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) recorded another two goals to cap off a four-goal weekend as the UMass Lowell Hockey team fell in overtime at Northeastern, 5-4 on Saturday night at Matthews Arena in Hockey East play.

The River Hawks drop to 4-5-1 overall record (1-3-1 HEA), while Northeastern ups its record to 6-3-1 overall (3-1-1 HEA).

"It was a good hockey game, unfortunately we were on the losing end tonight," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "We found our way out of our power play slump, that was a positive. I thought we came to play, but we didn't end up with the last goal."
Patrick Schule scored the overtime winner just 2:14 into the extra frame to give the Huskies the victory.

NU's Tyler Madden knotted the game at 4-4 with his fourth tally of the year with just 4:28 to go in regulation.

Lohin scored the third and fourth goals of the game on the power play to give the River Hawks a 4-3 lead. Lohin and Kenny Hausinger (Anchorage, Alaska) each finished the night with three points, while Lucas Condotta (Georgetown, Ont.) registered a career-high two assists in the losing effort.

Northeastern's Grant Jozefek also scored two goals in the win for the Huskies for his seventh and eighth goals of the year.

Junior defenseman Mattias Goransson (Slottsbron, Sweden) also got on the scoresheet for the first time this season to give the River Hawks a 2-1 lead at 13:24 of the second stanza. Goransson finished the night with a game-high seven shots on goal.

The River Hawks got on the scoreboard first with Hausinger's fourth goal of the year just 3:35 into the game, but Northeastern's Jeremy Davies tied the game less than five minutes later.

The River Hawks finished the night 3-for-8 on the power play and went 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Senior goalie Christoffer Hernberg (Espoo, Finland) notched 26 saves in his fourth start of the year for the River Hawks, while NU's Cayden Primeau stopped 33 shots in the victory.
