River Hawks Return Home to Host Binghamton During Homecoming

LOWELL, Mass. – Looking to bounce back from the program's first three-game skid in over a year, the UMass Lowell men's soccer team begins a two-game homestand against Binghamton on Saturday afternoon.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the River Hawks will don pink jerseys for the third consecutive season. The team is 2-0 in the special uniforms, and has outscored opponents 5-3. 

RIVER HAWK LEADERS
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) still paces the team with four scores and 10 points, and has added three game-winning goals. Roko Prsa (3g, 3a) is second with nine points and leads UMass Lowell in assists. Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) has scored twice in the last four games to sit at six points, with a pair of helpers. Between the pipes, Zach Rowell (Haverhill, Mass.) is 5-1-2 with 17 saves and a 0.50 GAA, in addition to four shutouts, while Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) is 1-3-0 with 16 saves and a 1.78 GAA.
 
SOARING IN THE NATION
- Rowell is sixth with a 0.50 GAA to lead the America East with four shutouts as well
- Alves' three game-winning goals sit tied for 17th and is tied for second in the conference

HOME, SWEET HOME
Over the last 22 games at Cushing Field, the hosts are 17-2-3 dating back to 2016. The River Hawks are 26-9-4 in the Mill City since 2014.

SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
- The Bearcats enter the matchup at 3-7-2 and 2-1-0 in conference play
- Binghamton is 1-4-1 away from Vestal, N.Y.
- Noah Luescher and Haris Brkovic both have three scores to pace the offense
- Luescher has a team-high four assists as well, to lead the team with 10 points
- In net, Chris Shutler is 3-5-2 with a 1.54 GAA and 17 saves
- UMass Lowell holds a 5-2-1 mark in the all-time series, including 3-0-1 in the last four meetings

FIRST GOAL
The defeat against Holy Cross on Sept 25 marked the first loss for the River Hawks since September 13, 2015 when UMass Lowell scores first, adding the first blemish to a 29-0-3 record.

I LIKE MY SHEETS CLEAN
Stanford's lone goal snapped UMass Lowell's program record consecutive shutout minutes mark at 403:33. 

HAWK THE VOTE
UMass Lowell has been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll for 22 weeks since 2016.

#BASICFORMACHERMANN
Before the season, Basic was named as one of 32 players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist. The MAC Hermann in college soccer's most prestigious individual award.
 
AWARD SZN
Kauzlaric and Gujic were named AE Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week (9.24) ... coming off his first career shutout, Rowell was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week (8.20).

PLAYING FAVORITES
For the second consecutive season, the River Hawks were picked as the favorite to win the America East, voted on by the coaches.
 
NOTABLES
Gujic earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week (9.24) ... 27 of the 32 River Hawks on the roster have seen action in 2018  ... the River Hawks have won four consecutive season openers ... in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll UMass Lowell received 10 votes.
