LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team dropped an America East matchup, 76-46, to Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at Costello.
Jennifer Louro (Belmar, N.J.) connected on a trio of three-pointers to lead the River Hawks (3-16, 0-6) with 11 points.
The Beacats (12-7, 3-3) had four players reach double-figures, paced by Imani Watkins' 33 points and five steals.
UMass Lowell scored the first two baskets to take a 4-0 lead in the first 75 seconds, before the Bearcats rattled off the next eight points. Louro ended the drought with back-to-back corner threes in a 30-second span, that pushed the River Hawks back on top, 10-8.
Binghamton went on a 12-2 run to go up 20-12, before
Brianna Rudolph (Lynn, Mass.) cut the deficit to five heading into the second quarter.
After a Saiorse Power-Cassidy (Dublin, Ireland) three cut the lead to 22-20, the Bearcats opened a 32-22 lead with 5:17 to play in the first half.
Louro's third triple of the half and a Gibbs conventional three-point play brought the River Hawks with 32-28 in the final 90 seconds before the break.
Louro reached double digits with the first bucket of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 34-30, but the Bearcats went on a 15-3 run to open a 49-33 advantage with 2:50 to play in the frame.
The River Hawks head out on the road for two games, beginning with a 7 p.m. tilt at Stony Brook on January 24.
