River Hawks Host Binghamton In Sunday Matinee

The UMass Lowell women's basketball team hosts the Binghamton Bearcats in a noon tip at Costello on Sunday.

A Look Back
UMass Lowell led until the final shot of the third quarter, and the UAlbany Great Danes pulled away in the fourth for the 61-52 win on Thursday night. Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) completed her ninth double-double of the season in the first half, en route to tying her own DI program record with 18 rebounds. UAlbany outscored the River Hawks 16-4 in the third.

Leading the Flock
The River Hawks are paced by Kayla Gibbs (12.8 ppg) and Paula Lopez (10.0 ppg), while Gibbs is also averaging 9.7 rebounds. Lopez has recorded 44 assists and 24 steals, and Jennifer Louro leads the team with her 27 three-point field goals. Angel Agoth has registered eight blocks to pace the defense. As a unit, UMass Lowell is shooting 40.7 percent from the field, and 31.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Going National
Entering the weekend, Kayla Gibbs ranks 12th in offensive rebounds per game (4.6), tied for 18th with nine double-doubles and 19th with a 59.2 field goal percentage.

Scouting Binghamton
The Bearcats (11-7, 2-3) are coming off two straight AE losses following a 67-59 setback to Stony Brook. Imani Watkins paces the conference with 21.2 points per game, as a trio of players are averaging double-figures for Binghamton. Alyssa James (10.1 ppg) is grabbing 9.7 rebounds and has recorded 74 blocks. Kai Moon sits second on the squad with 11.8 points and 52 assists. The Bearcats are shooting 38.9 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from three-point range.

Series History
Binghamton owns a 8-4 series edge, and have won four straight meetings. 

Follow the Leader
Over the last two games, UMass Lowell has led for 52:52 and has been tied for 3:18. In the first half, the River Hawks are outscoring opponents, 57-45, but are getting outscored 82-40 in the second half.

Crazy Eights
The eight spot New Hampshire put up in the first quarter was the fewest points UMass Lowell has allowed in the opening frame this season.

From 12/31-1/10, Angel Agoth recorded two blocks in three straight games. She now leads the team with eight rejections.

Full Team Effort
For the third time in Division I, every River Hawk player that entered the Cornell contest scored. The previous two times for UMass Lowell happened against Longwood in 2016-17 and Holy Cross in 2015-16. The River Hawks are 1-2 in these meetings.
