ALBANY, N.Y. -- Sophomore outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) amassed a match-high 21 kills, but the UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell to UAlbany, 3-1 on Saturday night in America East play at University Gymnasium. The set scores were 16-25, 22-25, 25-23 and 23-25.Â
With the loss, the River Hawks drop to 5-11 overall (0-3 AE), while Albany improves to 2-13 overall and 2-1 in America East action.Â
"I am proud of the heart the team showed and the adjustments made by everyone throughout the match," said Head Coach Resa Provazano. "A lot people contributed and fought until the very end. We will keep learning and grinding and look forward to next week's home match against Stony Brook."
Claybaugh who finished two kills short of tying a career-high, added a .264 hitting percentage and 16 kills. Senior outside hitter Masha Yelsukova (Santa Clara, Calif.) also chipped in with eight kills, while sophomore middle blocker
Katherine Palmer (Ellensburg, Wash.) finished the match with a career-high six kills and six total blocks.Â

Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) recorded seven kills and four total blocks in the match, while co-captain
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) managed a team-high 21 digs in the losing effort.Â
UMass Lowell totaled 15 kills and a .217 hitting percentage in the third set victory against the Great Danes.Â
The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 7th with a 7 p.m. match against Stony Brook at Costello Athletic Center in America East play. The team will host it's annual Dig Pink Night and Team IMPACT Night against the Seawolves.Â
