AKRON, Ohio -- The UMass Lowell men's soccer team (4-3-1) gave up two first-half scores in a 5-0 setback to Akron (3-2-1) on Sunday afternoon.
The Zips broke through in the 33rd minute score by Sam Gainford, and doubled the advantage in the 40th minute. Gainford added his second goal on the contest in the 52nd minute after collecting a loose ball.

Ivan Blaskic (Zagreb, Croatia) has his penalty kick attempt stopped by Akron's keeper Ben Lundt.Â
The River Hawks recorded all three of their shots on goal in the final 45 minutes. Lundt recorded all three saves in the contest.
UMass Lowell begins America East play on September 30 with a road contest at UAlbany at 7 p.,m. The match also wraps up the River Hawks' three-game road swing.
