BOSTON -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell in straight sets at Northeastern in the final day of the New England Challenge at the Cabot Center on Sunday afternoon. The set scores were 6-25, 12-25 and 21-25.Â
The River Hawks drop to 3-8 overall on the season, which Northeastern improves to 7-5 overall.Â
Sophomore outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) and freshman middle blocker
Grace Burkett (Lakeside, Calif.) each notched a team-high six kills in the losing effort for the River Hawks. Claybaugh also added eight digs, while the six kills for Burkett marked a career-high, to go along with an impressive .556 hitting percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) also chipped in with five kills on the day. Junior co-captain
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) totaled a team-high nine kills for the River Hawks.Â
The River Hawks registered a match-high 13 kills and a .212 hitting percentage in the third set against the Huskies.
UMass Lowell returns to action for its home and America East opener on Friday, September 22nd against New Hampshire. Match time from the Costello Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
