LOWELL, Mass. – Former River Hawk goalkeeper Jamie Gillis (2006-09) signed on with the Boston Breakers of the National Women's Soccer League, as announced by the team.
Gillis will replace Abby Smith, who is on international duty with the U.S. Women's National Team.
Before joining the Breakers, Gillis played for the Boston Breaker Reserves in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). In her position, she led the Reserves to an 8-0 regular season to win the New England division. The Reserves advanced to the WPSL National Championship Final Four and finished the season with a 9-1 record. In 10 games, Gillis allowed just seven goals.
During her time in goal, she amassed 10 school records, including 41 career wins, 38 shutouts, and a 0.81 goals-against average. The two-time All-American was also named the Goalkeeper of the Year in 2008-09.
