River Hawks host Vermont in America East play on Saturday

UMass Lowell will play its seventh home game at 2pm at Cushing Field Complex

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters the weekend with a 2-9 overall record (0-3 AE), after a 10-6 loss at UMBC last Saturday afternoon. Senior midfielder Martin Winter (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and junior midfielder Keenan Koswin (Winnipeg, Man.) each had two goals in the losing effort. Sophomore midfielder Blaine McMahon (New Milford, Conn.) notched a team-high eight groundballs last Saturday. The River Hawks were last victorious on March 11th at Manhattan. The River Hawks have scored seven or more goals in eight of 11 contest this season. 

UMass Lowell as a team leads America East with 34.45 ground balls per game and rank second among conference teams with 7.27 caused turnovers per game. UMass Lowell's 21.45 shots on goal per game ranks fourth among America East squads. 

SCOUTING VERMONT: The Catamounts own a 4-6 overall record (0-3 AE) coming into Saturday's tilt at UMass Lowell. Vermont has lost three straight contests, including their most recent loss against Hartford by a 15-13 score and owns a 3-4 record away from their home field. Dawes Milchling notched a team-high five points and four goals. Cam Milligan has notched a team-high 32 points and team-high 14 assists in 10 contests. Ben French has tallied a team-leading 20 goals for the Catamounts in 2017. 

PHILLIPS IS GOAL ORIENTED: Junior midfielder Jon Phillips (Delta, B.C.) leads the team with a career-high 16 goals this season and ranks second on the team with 21 points. He has posted a goal in nine of 11 games this season for the River Hawks, which includes four multi-goal efforts. 

DATTILO FROM THE FACEOFF CIRCLE: Freshman faceoff midfielder Brett Dattilo (Derry, N.H.) has won 111 faceoffs for the River Hawks in his freshman season, which ranks fourth among America East players. His 44.2% win percentage in ninth best in the conference. His 4.18 ground balls per contest also ranks fifth in America East. 

LARDIERI SAVING THE DAY: Sophomore netminder Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) has started all 11 games for the River Hawks this season and ranks second among America East goalies with 10.91 saves per contest. His 120 saves this season leads all America East goaltenders.
