BALTIMORE, Md. – The UMass Lowell baseball team (20-16, 8-6 AE) suffered its first conference series loss this season, as the UMBC Retrievers (13-17, 7-5 AE) took the rubber game, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon.

The River Hawks scored first in all three games, taking a 1-0 in the opening frame as
Colby Maiola (North Reading, Mass.) picked up his team-leading 33th RBI with his single that scored
Oscar Marchena (Miami, Fla.).

Steve Passatempo's (Medford, Mass.) RBI single in the third doubled the advantage to 2-0, as
Ben Prada (Laurel, Md) singled and advanced on a wild pitch to get in scoring position.

The Retrievers put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the third to go ahead 3-2, following two singles, a double and a two-run go-ahead triple off the bat of Jamie Switalski. UMBC's Christian Torres drove home the fourth and fifth runs with RBI singles in the sixth and eighth innings, respectively.

Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up a pair of hits for the visitors, while AJ Wright went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Retrievers.
